I’m going to show you how to run Netflix natively on a Raspberry Pi 3. No tricks, no streaming from a PC, no x86 emulation. Pure native Netflix on the Raspberry Pi. Grab your own Raspberry Pi 3 Kit here:
There are a heap of videos out there on YouTube showing Netflix on a Raspberry Pi but most of them are using tricks like streaming from a PC or trying to get it running through emulation. This video is different and shows you how to make netflix work natively.
How this really works is by using a pre-compiled version of Chromium that has the Widevine DRM baked into it. You can compile the source code manually if you want by visiting the GitHub page and using the build-deb.sh file.
What you will need before you start though is:
Latest Raspbian image from
Ethcer from
Keyboard and Mouse from Amazon US
To download the pre-compiled Chromium browser, use the following:
wget
Then to install the Netflix Launcher, use the following:
sudo dpkg -i chromium-browser_56.0.2924.84-0ubuntu0.14.04.1.1011.deb
Do a quick reboot and you are done. Log into your Netflix account and start watching on your Raspberry Pi. Awesome!!!

Great video!! Any way to get this to work with retropie ?
There may be a way of of doing this but I would have to investigate it a bit further π
TechWizTime ah, please, research that!
Yep, you can install Raspbian through Retropie. It will then be in the “PORTS” section. I think it’s called “Desktop.” From there you start that up and follow the instructions in the video. Super easy.
But i’d still need a mouse… Isn’t there Any soft like joytokey for windows?
@TechWizTime you should be nominated for Sainthood… Because getting Netflix on a Pi is a miracle.
LOL Love it π
is there a way to get it running on retro pie or kodi?
A possible future video in the works π
Ok i finally got Chromium playing Netflix! (woot, thank you). This is probably really easy but, how do you add the Netflix Launcher to the menu like that? (fyi this was the very first thing I’ve done with my Raspberry pi)
I figured it was something like that. I’m just not familiar enough with github to figure out the path. OK running the new build now. I’ll report back!
Ok I tried this install about 5 times. the launcher showed up and things kind of play. However the video is about half speed and the audio is totally muffled. Thoughts?
Netflix on Pi is nowhere near enough stable and 9 times out of ten will crash just as you are getting to the best point in movie/tv show… I have used Kodi from day 1 of owning a pi,Β this is very hard to beat + NO BILLS
I finally got this to work, I started from scratch with a new sd card and went from there. It works, but the video isn’t smooth, a little bit choppy. Any thing I can do to fix that?
many have tried and failed, I gave up with it in the end and went back to Kodi, I have Netflix on fire tv but never use it. I did read that some people made it slightly better by increasing the ram to the gpuΒ but they never got it to run in a watchable state.
It solves the Amazon video playback problem too!
How tf does this not have millions of views yet????
It’s possible to have mobdro kodi addon running on raspberry pi 3?
will it support 4k? will it support HDR?
best Rick impersonation every π

Can I install it together with the retropie in the same Raspeberry? I have no idea.
So freaking easy! Great job, man. This is amazing!
it doesn’t work on my raspberry system
I followed all the instructions clearly but when I went to double-click Netflix Launcher it loads for a couple seconds before stopping entirely…. Any help?
